Learn more about how our Managed Discretionary Account Service works
A managed discretionary account is an account established in your name or a relevant entity’s name such as a self-managed super fund, family trust or company. Discretionary authority is given to Amplus Global to manage the account on your behalf in accordance with your chosen Investment Program. In this way, you delegate the day to day decision making about your investment portfolio.
MDAs are regulated by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) and the provision of MDA services must meet certain conditions of the Corporations Act 2001, Regulatory Guide 179 and ASIC Class Order CO 04/194. MDAs are managed by a Managed Account Operator that must hold an Australian Financial Services Licence authorising them to provide MDA services.
To establish and operate your account, an MDA agreement is signed which sets out the terms and conditions of your Investment Program. You give us specific and on-going discretionary authority as part of the MDA agreement. We are obliged to manage your MDA portfolio in accordance with the agreed Investment Program and your signed authority.
By giving us discretionary authority, you empower us to deal and invest on your behalf. You remain the beneficial owner of holdings or funds in your MDA, but we will control day-to-day investment on behalf of your MDA.
You may terminate your MDA agreement by notice to us in accordance with the Agreement.
Using a managed discretionary account allows you to gain access to professional investment management expertise. The investment managers are responsible for managing model portfolios in accordance with key investment objectives as set out in the Investment Philosophy. As the owner of the account, the client has complete transparency and access to view positions held in their account. The client has access to comprehensive reporting and account details at any point in time via a web-browser interface. The client also remains the beneficial owner of all holdings in the portfolio which means you get all the taxation entitlements and franking credits.
Amplus Global has a wide range of investment programs. Many of the investment programs involve investing in shares and exchange traded funds, from Australia and North America. We also have a program which invests in other financial instruments such as futures, foreign exchange and options. Find out more on our Investment Programs page.
Amplus Global brings all the required elements together to make the process of investing as simple and transparent as possible. You can just sit back and monitor the performance of your account periodically or you can actively watch and monitor your positions and portfolio using the reporting tools available to you as a client of Amplus Global.
All of Amplus Global’s investment programs are based on computer models. This means all our investment strategies are completely unemotional automated processes. We build models in an electronic computer based environment where we can run simulated tests and optimise parameters to increase the probability of achieving outstanding investment returns for our clients. This allows us to produce statistical data which assists us in gauging the likely outcomes of future investment returns, including expected compound annual growth rate, maximum draw-down over a given period and many other key measures.
Our MDA accounts are suitable for wholesale and retail investors, institutional investors, incorporated bodies and trustees; including SMSFs. The type of person that would benefit from our service include busy executives, retirees, small business owners and anyone looking to hand their investing over to a professional team with consistently disciplined and proven investment models. This can alleviate the stress of investing yourself and free up your time.
We provide most managed investment services using a Managed Discretionary Account (MDA) model for our clients. What does this mean? You open an account with our nominated third party broker and then you provide Amplus Global with authority to execute financial market transactions within this account. Currently Interactive Brokers LLC is our primary broker. Amplus Global staff can guide you through every step of the account opening process.
Interactive Brokers LLC is large broker organisation in the United States, you can read all about their client funds security on their webpages or by following this link: Interactive Brokers Group Strength and Security
Account opening with Amplus Global requires two account applications, one with Interactive Brokers and one with Amplus Global directly. Once both accounts are opened, you provide Amplus Global with authority on your Interactive Brokers account so we can manage certain transactions in line with our agreement to you.
Our structure gives you added security benefits as Amplus Global does not hold any of your funds on deposit, your deposited funds sit with Interactive Brokers directly. You will have access to all the reporting interfaces so you can see exactly how your account is performing at any time. Throughout the account opening process Amplus Global discloses exactly where the limitations lie with products we invest in, investment decisions and transaction frequency.
You will need to contact Amplus Global directly to begin the account opening process.
